Our mission is to inspire youth to become responsible, community-minded leaders by fostering integrity, outdoor skills, and a lifelong commitment to service through the Scout Oath and Law.
Welcome to Troop 318 — Lexington, Missouri’s oldest Scouting unit, proudly serving our community since 1922!
Troop 318 is open to boys ages 11 to 18 who have completed the fifth grade, are at least 10½ years old, or have earned Cub Scouting’s highest rank, the Arrow of Light.
For over a century, our Troop has carried forward the traditions of leadership, service, and outdoor adventure that define Scouting. We invite you to join us as we continue to build character, learn new skills, and create lasting friendships through the Scouting experience.
A Cub Scout Pack is for youth in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Within the Pack, Scouts are organized into Dens, each corresponding to a specific grade level. Every Den is guided by an adult Den Leader who helps the Scouts learn, explore, and grow through hands-on activities and adventures.
Once a month, the entire Pack comes together for a Pack Meeting — a fun and engaging event planned by the Pack Committee, a team of dedicated adult leaders who support and coordinate the Pack’s activities.
A Scout Troop is for youth ages 11 to 18 who have completed the fifth grade, are at least 10½ years old, or have earned the Arrow of Light Award, Cub Scouting’s highest rank.
The Troop is youth-led, with Scouts electing their own leaders — the Senior Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader — who guide the Troop under the supervision and mentorship of the Scoutmaster and other trusted adults.
Within the Troop, Scouts are organized into smaller groups called Patrols, each led by an elected Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader. This structure helps Scouts develop leadership skills, teamwork, and responsibility.
The Troop holds monthly campouts, planned primarily by the Scouts themselves with guidance and support from adult leaders, giving them hands-on experience in planning, outdoor skills, and adventure.
Troop 318 meets weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Scout Cabin, located next to the basketball courts at College Park, just off the Lafayette Regional Hospital parking lot.
A typical Troop meeting includes:
These meetings provide opportunities for Scouts to learn, lead, and prepare for upcoming activities and adventures in a structured, supportive environment.
For youth kindergarten through 5th grade. Pack 440 is all about encouraging Cubs to make friends, be helpful to others, and do their very best no matter the outcome. With the help of powerful learning projects and exciting outdoor activities, we aim to teach children that doing their best can be a fun and rewarding experience—no matter the difficulty of the challenge.
For over 100 years, our program has helped create generations of leaders and outstanding citizens by allowing youth to explore their interests, serve their communities, and discover their talents through youth-led activities like hiking, camping, and volunteering!
Each member of the Pack and Troop, youth and adult, must register with Scouting America. This can be done in paper form or online through the www.beascout.org website. The Heart of America Council will conduct a background check on all adult leader applicants. The applicant MAY NOT participate in any Scouting activity in the capacity of an adult leader until the background check has been completed. Adult leaders must complete Safe Guarding Youth Training at time of registration as well as renew this training each year. Other position specific training may also be required. Each year, each person's registration must be renewed. This process is called "recharter" and is handled by the Pack and Troop committees for each unit. Fees for recharter are usually collected before October and will be announced as much in advance as possible.
